Heal is looking for a part-time Assistant Rewilding Ranger to join our small team at an exciting time for the charity, as we expand our land management activities at our foundation rewilding site, Heal Somerset.
About the role
Heal Rewilding is looking for an Assistant Rewilding Ranger for a short-term, part-time contract, starting as soon as possible. The role will support Heal Somerset’s Rewilding Ranger and involve organising ongoing monitoring with specialist organisations and expert volunteers.
Candidates need to be physically able to carry out the demands of the role.
Contract details
Salary: £11.44 per hour (National Living Wage), £171.60 per week for 15 hours
Contract: part-time, temporary contract (16 weeks)
Hours: 15 hours per week - two full days at 7.5 hours a day
Location: based at Heal Somerset. It is approximately 15 minutes' drive from Frome and Bruton. There are no public transport links (bus/train routes) to the exact location.

Roles and responsibilities include:

Co-ordinate the volunteer surveying effort (including bird, bat, butterfly, bee, moth, dragonfly, amphibian, reptile, plant, riverfly, camera trapping and fixed point photography surveys), with training given

Recruit new volunteers through outreach

Re-establish a fixed point photography project

Formalise survey data into a more manageable database

Transfer data onto digital maps for easier analysis and data viewing
